A NEW ERA OF CHURCH PLANTING

방해 : 오늘날의 노력은 무슬림이 자신의 문화와 종교, 정체성을 지닌 무슬림들에 의해 이루어졌다. 그리고 많은 나라의 엄격한 이슬람은 고전적인 이슬람으로의 회귀를 강하게 추구하고 있다. "서방의 가치"와 삶의 방식은 거부되어지고 있으며, 가끔은 폭력이 나타나기도 한다. 따라서 정부들은 무슬림 전통의 회복과 종족의 순수성을 추구한다. 이러한 모든 것들은 무슬림에게 좋은 이유이다.

RESISTANCE: Today an effort is being made by indigenous Muslim peoples to hold on to their culture, religion and identity. There are strong waves of the return to a stricter Islamic codex in many countries. "Western values" and lifestyles are being rejected, sometimes violently. Governments are seeking to strengthen Muslim traditions and ethnic purity. All this is good reason for Muslim's who get saved to remain in their community and help their family and friends hear the Good News.

OLD METHODS: One reason Muslim's reject the Gospel message is because it often extracted their people from within their midst. Up until recently, missionary methods had mostly been that of removing converts from their former community and placing them within a church. Converts to Christ had a new "spiritual family" but often had to break ties with their physical family and Muslim friends. How far this contrasted with Paul's advice to the Corinthian church when he wrote: "Nevertheless each one should retain the place in life that the Lord assigned to him and to which God has called him... Was a man circumcised when he was called, he should not become uncircumcised." (1 Cor 7:17)

A NEW ERA: One of the foundational changes taking place around the world is a return to the principles followed by Paul in regard to converts remaining within their social and cultural setting. Believers are perceived in their community as sincere, however they are bonded into fellowship with others from their own people who have made a similar decision and who are obedient to Christ. As a result, the gospel is beginning to find openings from the Muslim who has received Christ but remains to reach his or her unsaved locality.

PRAY: God's plan is for all Muslims who receive Christ to be a living witness among their own people, family and friends. This is their calling! As you pray for Muslims, believe for converts who will not be driven out of their community but who will remain culturally relevant! It is these people who are the potential beginnings of whole movements to Christ.
